Professional Serieses "On The Road" in Huntington: First Pages with Heather Flaherty (The Bent Agency) and Maggie Lehrman (Abrams Books for Young Readers)

 

Heather Flaherty is a Literary Agent at The Bent Agency. She represents children's, middle-grade, and young adult fiction and non-fiction, as well as select adult fiction and non-fiction. Heather was formerly a YA and Children's Literary Scout. She started out in New York City as a playwright, which gave her a solid handle on dialogue. She has also worked as a pony trekking guide in Connemara, Ireland.

Maggie Lehrman is a senior editor at Abrams Books for Young Readers. She is also a writer whose first novel for young adults, The Cost of All Things, is available from Balzer + Bray/HarperCollins. She has an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts, and she graduated from Harvard College with a BA in English.

Bring your First Pages for an opportunity to be critiqued by an agent and an editor (TBA).  First pages wil be chosen by the editor and agent.

Bring 4 copies of your first page.  Do not put your name on it.  Have title and age group on top.  1 inch margins, 12 pt. Times New Roman Font, double spaced.  Picture book writers: Please bring first page of your manuscript and NOT the first page of your picture book.
